The best oil for you depends on your skin type and what you're looking to support. Try a few out, see how your skin responds, and don’t be afraid to mix and match. A little goes a long way—your skin will thank you.

Bonus: A Simple DIY Makeup Remover Blend

Sometimes you want to keep it minimal, but with a little extra something—especially if you're wearing heavier makeup or just love a blend that feels a bit more luxe. This recipe is still simple, gentle, and made with ingredients you can actually pronounce.

You’ll Need:

2 tbsp jojoba oil (or sweet almond oil) I love this jojoba oil from NOW brand.

1 tbsp witch hazel (alcohol-free only—super important!) This one comes highly recommended if you don't already have some in your cupboard.

1 tbsp aloe vera gel (soothing and hydrating) This one is perfect for the eye area.

Optional: 1-2 drops of vitamin E oil (for extra nourishment) This therapeutic-grade vitamin E oil is also good for scars, hair and skin in general.

How to Make It:

- Mix everything together in a small glass bottle or jar.

- Shake gently before each use.

- Apply with a cotton pad or your fingers, then rinse or wipe with a warm damp cloth.

Why It Works:

This blend balances oil (to melt makeup), aloe (to soothe), and witch hazel (to gently tone), making it perfect for those days when your skin needs a little more TLC.

What Kind of Aloe Vera Gel Should You Use?

When choosing aloe vera gel for skincare, simple is best. Look for one that’s:

99% pure or labeled “pure aloe vera”

Colorless (real aloe isn’t green!)

Free of alcohol, artificial colors, and added fragrance

A few good signs on the label:

Cold-pressed

Organic

Minimal ingredients (aloe should be first on the list)

Avoid the bright green, drugstore stuff—that’s usually packed with dyes and chemicals. I recommend aloe vera gel like this one. Seven Minerals is also highly recommended but the one I linked is just as good and actually cheaper. It's always a good idea to do your own researching and try out what works best for you.

At the end of the day, your skincare routine should feel good—not complicated. Whether you’re reaching for a single nourishing oil or mixing up a gentle DIY blend, the goal is the same: clean, happy skin without all the extra junk. I hope this post helps you simplify your routine and find what works for you. If you try any of these oils or make the recipe, let me know how it goes—I’d love to hear what your skin thinks!
